BE AEROSPACE - WATERFRONT
Industrial Design, UX/UI Design
The Waterfront project was an ambitious collaboration aimed at redefining the future of premium air travel by seamlessly merging advanced digital experiences with physical comfort. As part of the design team, we set out to create a business class environment that rivaled the exclusivity and personalization typically reserved for first class. Our goal was to develop a cabin experience that responded intuitively to each passenger’s needs—transforming the seat from a static object into a dynamic, responsive space. Working closely with Panasonic Avionics and B/E Aerospace, we integrated cutting-edge technology that allowed passengers to control everything from seat position and lighting to temperature and entertainment through a single, cohesive digital interface.

A key design focus was on enhancing personalization and creating a sense of personal sanctuary at 30,000 feet. The seat was equipped with a companion app and an in-seat touchscreen that gave passengers full control over their environment. Preferences for lighting, seat recline, airflow, and even ambient temperature could be easily adjusted and saved for future flights, offering a highly individualized experience. We also paid close attention to the physical design language, ensuring that the integration of technology felt seamless and unobtrusive. Despite the complexity of the systems involved, the result was an environment that remained calm, elegant, and inviting—a space designed not just for travel, but for genuine relaxation and well-being.

Throughout the project, we prototyped extensively to ensure that both the digital and physical touchpoints delivered a consistent and intuitive user experience. From the ergonomic design of the seat controls to the visual language of the on-screen interface, every detail was carefully crafted to support effortless interaction and emotional comfort. The success of the Waterfront project lies in how it reimagined the business class experience—not just through luxurious materials and spacious layouts, but by empowering passengers with control over their journey, creating a meaningful sense of ownership and comfort in the sky.

Waterfront was awarded with the iF and Red Dot award in 2016.
